Propagation of the Voltage Sags Through Different Winding Connections of the Transformers
Power quality is very important aspect of power delivery. This paper deals with voltage sags that are one aspect of power quality that primarily affect the customer. During the voltage sag the voltage at the customer terminal is reduced and can cause unwanted equipment trips. Mainly causes of the voltage sags are short-circuit faults. Most short-circuits in power system are single phase or two phase. The causes of the voltage sags in the power system are not the subject of this research. This paper analyzes the propagation of single phase voltage sag caused by line-to-ground short circuit in transmission network, from the high voltage level to the distribution level through various types of transformer. The influence of transformer winding connection on voltage sag propagation is analyzed. Two examples of the voltage sag propagation from transmission to the distribution level that are captured with the power quality measurements are presented. Conclusions and comments on the results are presented at the end of the paper.
