On the production of trihalomethanes the in seawater and the waste water samples during laboratory chlorination processes
Water chlorination leads to the generation of various halogenated products of natural and waste water or organic matter. In natural seawater humic matter usually makes the greatest part of the total organic matter. However, seawater polluted with other organic wastes, other organic matter is also present in significant concentrations. Coastal seawater samples collected from the Rijeka Bay heavily polluted with organic wastes and relatively clean seawater samples collected int he area outsaide the Rijeka Bay are laboratory chlorinated. The influence of organic matter in seawater samples and the production of volatile lipophilic organohalogenides during their chlorination by using a relatively simple ECD fingerprint method are investigated.
