The gradient based pulse heating thermography image processing approach
Several thermal disturbances such as surrounding structures heat emission, equipment and operator (thermographer) reflections, are influencing the image. Although the pulse heating thermography, in comparison to the standard thermography, significantly reduces these influences, still they are partly present in cases such as curved surfaces, unequal pulse heating, or a heat flow through the object of observation. Our goal in presented research was to make more distinguishable anomalies from such thermal influences. The gradient based image processing method presented in the paper is a simple straight-forward method of reducing the thermal influences and filtering out clear contours of anomalies in glass reinforced composite.
