Surgical treatment of ventral abdominal lipoma in leopard ( Panthera pardus)
A 12-year- old male leopard (Panthera pardus) from the zoo, weighing 90 kg was presented to Surgery clinic Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb with a history of diffuse swelling in the ventral abdominal region. On admission, the leopard had the rectal temperature of 38, 3 OC, pulse was 53 beats per minute and respiratory rate was 15 breaths per minute. On latero-lateral and ventrodorsal radiographs of the abdomen, intact abdominal wall and subcutaneous mass was observed. Surgery of mass was performed by skin incision in ventral midline and enormous mass of fat tissue was observed between skin and abdominal wall. Histopathology confirmed the mass to be a finely encapsulated, simple lipoma not attached to adjacent tissue Dehiscency of caudal part of wound was observed because of licking of wound 10th day after surgery. 30th day after surgery by inspection from the distance wound looked healed.
