No status of limitation for criminal offences against war profiteering and crimes committed in the process of ownership transformation and privatization in Croatia - Does it achieve goals of transitional justice?
The Croatian Parliament's recently (in May 2011) endorsed amendments to the Penal Code and passed a separate act on exemption from the statute of limitations for war profiteering and crimes committed in the process of ownership transformation and privatization. Those legislative changes elaborate the latest constitutional provision on the exemption of those crimes from the statute of limitations. One can argue that non applicability of statutory limitation for criminal offences during privatization is questionable when proscribed absolute limitation period for those crimes has expired.
