New insights into reaction mechanisms in heavy-ion collisions around the Fermi energy
Mechanisms in heavy ion reactions are investigated in the framework of the dynamical semiclassical Landau-Vlasov approach for an energy interval 20 - 100 MeV/nucleon. A phenomenon of nuclear matter pseudotransparency sets in around the Fermi energy for symmetric systems causing disappearance of fusionlike processes in central collisions. They are replaced by a highly dissipative process of binary type. The dissipation of mass and available energy increases with incident energy. It is governed by nucleon-nucleon collisions in the early compact phase of a collision, so that this reaction mechanisms is closely related to the participanr-spectator picture. The consequence of this prompt dynamical (participant) emission, sitting mainly at midrapidity, is taht the quasiprojectile and the quasitarget, when they appear to form the binary exit channel, are neither very massive nor very hot nuclei
