Local applicability of heights obtained from a geoid model tested on the city area of Zagreb
Satellite techniques and missions have enabled instant but still very precise gathering of necessary data. One of the major impacts on geodesy in the last few years, as an outcome of those missions, was development of geoid models. They are developed to provide geoid undulation data in every discreet point needed. Last year, on the territory of Croatia, new geoid model HRG2009 was developed. In order to examine how accurate actual geoid model fits to the randomly selected discreet points, this analysis covered wide area of Zagreb with almost 50 points processed. Two independent techniques were used, precise leveling and orthometric height computation from the geoid model. By comparison of two mutual independent techniques for obtaining orthometric height, it was possible to evaluate local usability of geoid model.
