E4911 TRENIN project report PRO4
In the 4th reporting period of the project, project team developed and validated TRENIN prototype tool based on the results on the traceability methodology and implementation architecture presented during third project workshop WS3 held in January 2011. The traceability prototype tool is based on the idea of the semantically enriched Traceability Records that are mapping the information objects with activities in the product development process in which information objects are evolved. During the 4th reporting period the proposed methodology was firstly evaluated with the representatives of the industrial partners, providing the answers on the three key questions: 1. What specific requirements are proposed on traceability methodology by industrial partners? 2. What factors influence proposed traceability methodology in industrial practice? 3. How proposed traceability methodology can support industrial partners to achieve desired level of traceability? In parallel, the TRNEIN prototype tools were developed, consisting of three key modules: •TRENIN Web application (CALYX and FSB team) •TRENIN Utilisation Explorer (FSB team) •TRENIN Visualisation Toolkit (FSB team) As a case study for validation of the proposed methodology and tools two product development projects from two industrial partners have been selected and prepared. For the KONČAR KEEI the development of development of the train/tram vehicle control system was choosen as the representative of the complex electro-mechanical system developemnt process, and for the TPV the development of the generation of semi active head support for car seats as representative of the new and innovative development process. The test cases provided the final conclusions about project results. In parallel, lot of activities were conducted in industrial and academic community in order to disseminate the project results and make it visible that resulted with many plans and agreements for possible implementation, commercialisation and continuation of the Research and development activities related to the traceability of engineering information issues.
