Sažetak
The application of dye sensitized photocatalysis for the degradation of surfactant in the model wastewater has been studied with the aim to explore the possibility of the photocatalytic activity enhancement by introducing the different types of dyes and pigments in the photocatalytic films. The development and a partial characterization of the supported catalyst will be described within this study. Selected dyes, pigments and commercial TiO2 powder (AEROXIDE P25) were integrated within the matrix of chitosan molecules as a thin layer films. Water soluble dyes have been fixed on the chitosan surface in advance. All the developed films contain the high amount of the TiO2, which structure appeared to be intact. Photocatalytic films were supported on the glass and stainless steel plates and rings. The application of waste offset printing plates, containing Zn, as a support for the films has been investigated as well. The efficiency of the photocatalytic oxidation of the surfactant dodecylbenzene sulfonate (LAS-C12) has been evaluated by the means of mineralization and monitoring the concentration of surfactant and aliphatic acids during the treatment. Experiments were performed in a batch laboratory reactor using artificial light sources, UV-C, UV-A (low-pressure mercury lamps) and solar light (Xenon lamp – SUNTEST chamber). In order to evaluate the possibility of using the natural light source, the additional set of experiments has been performed in the boat flow reactor under direct sunlight. Intensity of UV-A and UV-C light has been monitored by radiometer to maintain the set limits, i.e. 270 W cm-2 at 254 nm and 4 W cm-2 for the irradiation of 350-380 nm.
