Sažetak
Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) is based on the use of symbols and supports communication process of people with disabilities. Multidisciplinary research is undertaken to explore and create public platform for developing and deploying interoperable and scalable symbol based communication services for different user devices. The paper describes current state of the art in term of solutions for AAC supported by ICT and introduces model of the platform architecture for developing and deploying symbol based communication services. Also, the design process of user interface and symbol system is presented in order to improve accessibility and usability.
