Preferential looking acuity in children with perinatal brain damage
Aim of this study was to compare the preferential looking acuity in children with perinatal brain damage with the existing visual acuity development curve We assessed 30 children with perinatal brain damage, from birth to 3 years of age. Visual acuity was assessed with preferential looking test Lea Gratings. Results were compared with existing visual acuity development curve. Results show preferential visual acuity values for children with different perinatal brain damages, and their deviation regarding existing visual acuity development curve. Results were also compared between groups with different perinatal brain damages. Results indicate need for further research of visual acuity in children with perinatal brain damage. Also need for investigation of visual acuity with optotipes in preschool children with brain damages.
