Sredstva za zaštitu od UV zračenja

In this article the active ingredients of sun protection products, their chemical structures, the mechanism of action and the area of protection are given. Suncreens have been traditionally divided into chemical absorbers (organic compounds) and physical blockers (inorganic compounds). Chemical sunscreens are generally aromatic compounds conjugated with a carbonyl group. There are derivatives of p-aminobenzoic, salicylic, cinnamic, anthranilic acids or benzophenone. Organic compounds which are used in sun protection products can be divided into UVAB absorbers (padimate O, octinoxate, octisalate, octocrylene, ensulizole), UVA absorbers (meradimate, avobenzone, ecamsule) and broad spectrum absorbers (oxybenzone). Inorganic compounds used in sun protection products are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. These compounds reflect or scatter UVR. A brief overview of sunscreen vehicles, formulations avilable in the market and instruction for their use are also presented. Most dermatologists recommend the regular use of sunscreens for a broader range of indications, such as drug photosensitivity, various photoaggravated dermatoses, prevention of photoaging and carcinogenesis.
