Repetition in Learner Talk
The paper researches repetition as a strategy in foreign language learner talk. Recent studies into learner discourse have shown that repetition is pervasive in L2 learner discourse. This study examines the emergence, types and functions of learner repetition in four types of communicative activities in different classroom settings. The aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between the use of repetition in learner talk and the type of activity in which learners participate. Analyses were made on a corpus of 13 transcribed recordings of EFL classroom dialogue in Croatian schools.
