Motivating employees of Slovenian and Croatian wood-industry companies in times of economic downturn
Motivating the employees is of key importance for providing their efficiency and quality of work. This especially applies for employment in the conditions of economic downturn, where we can recognize the growth of de-motivational factors, which have a negative influence on the motivation of the employees. In the research we wanted to establish the current situation of motivation the employees of Slovenian and Croatian wood-industry companies. We found out that the companies’ management pays the most attention to assuring employees’ security and their reciprocal relations, which is without a doubt of great importance in the period of great insecurity of business and growing tension among people. We were also interested in the differences between Slovenian and Croatian companies. It was established that there are some differences in classification of different factors according to their importance, but they are mostly not statistically significant
