Biomedicine and Human Rights: The Ovideo Convention and Its Additional Protocols
Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine (ETS No.164, or, by its full name Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Dignity of the Human Bei with regard to the Application of Biology and Medicine) was brought in Oviedo, Spain, on April 4, 1997, by the Council of Europe and offered for signature and ratification to the member states and other international subjects. Thirteen years later, the Convention represents one of the most important documents in the real of bioethics, being at the same time a part of the legal acquest of the Europe Union.
