Structural analysis of CNC plasma cutting machine
CNC plasma cutting machine is designed and modeled within this paper. Drive torques for achieving certain movements of the machine are calculated based on predefined feed acceleration. Appropriate drive stepping motors are chosen based on calculated drive torques. One of the basic conditions which machine must fulfill is that the displacement of the plasma torch tip must not be greater than 0, 02 mm. As the plasma cutting is a contactless technology, the cutting forces are negligible. Therefore, construction of the machine is loaded only with inertial forces caused by acceleration of certain machine parts. Mentioned inertial forces are calculated for the worst case of operating. Furthermore, displacement of the plasma torch tip is calculated based on obtained results for deformations of basic structural components of machine. According to the analysis, displacement of the plasma torch tip is less than 0, 02 mm and thus it is concluded that the machine meets the requirements. The machine is created on the basis of analysis and 3D model and it is concluded that even in the exploitation, the machine has fulfill required accuracy.
