Analysis of cutting forces in turning of workpiece with a slot

Cutting forces in case of turning are analysed in this paper. In the first case, circular workpiece without the slot is analysed. Further, circular workpiece with a square slot is analysed. Obtained measurement results are compared with each other. Following processing parameters were varied: radial depth of cutting, cutting speed and feed rate. Analysis of cutting forces in case of turning the workpiece with a slot is analogous to the cutting forces in milling when the mill is in contact with the workpiece. Based on the measurement results, optimal processing parameters for turning the workpiece with a slot are determined.
