Reducing road vehicle emissions by means of administrative measures
Road transport, which dominates in both passenger and freight transport in the Republic of Croatia, in comparison with other branches of transport mainly affects the environment. The biggest threat is the constant increase in greenhouse gases emissions that directly or indirectly affect global warming, climate change, and thus human health. Due to the increasing environmental impact in all sectors including transport great attention is given to its protection. In the Republic of Croatia the measures are defined in the National Plan for the Environment according to which the Programme to reduce the negative impact of transport on the environment was created. The first measure is the Reduction of road vehicle (N2, N3 and M3) emissions in accordance with the prescribed standards EURO 1, EURO 2, EURO 3, EURO 4 and EURO 5. The paper presents that co-financing of "clean" transportation projects in the Republic of Croatia through the state aid is an effective way to reduce emissions of road vehicles.
