INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS OF EVALUATION AND SELECTION OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS FOR SURVEY: «JACKET & DECK», «IVANA K REVAMPING» PLATFORM

The ability to detect changes in a structure in order to improve its reliability s going to be provide through periodical structural health monitoring. Scheduled manual inspections based on non-invasive damage detection techniques are used to continuously monitor components and, if necessary, to confirm decision for component repair and replacement. Structural health monitoring denotes the ability to detect changes in a structure in order to improve its reliability. Scheduled manual inspections based on non-invasive damage detection techniques are used to continuously monitor components and, if necessary, to confirm decision for component repair and replacement. A minimum strength capacity of is considered appropriate for contemporary offshore platforms in order to provide a safety from any expected or unanticipated loads. Such provision also ensures a minimum standard for connections of particular members that take on primary importance in reserve strength assessments of the whole structure. During changes of the structural elements, recording the actual situation is directed towards reliable information about on the on-site structure and particular structural element. Such a change has occurred by revamping the IVANA K platform and upgrading of certain structural elements. According to the task defied for the offshore platforms IVANA K REVAMPING, there was a request for selection of structural elements jacket & deck where it is necessary to perform monitoring and survey according to ISO standards ISO/CD 19902 and recommendations of American Petroleum Institute described in «API RECOMMENDED PRACTICE 2A-WSD (RP 2A-WSD)», 21st ed., Dec. 2000. We have used the experience of Minerals Management Service (MMS), a bureau of U.S. Department of Interior, which ensures the safety and integrity of the oil and gas platforms. The elaboration of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FSB) INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS OF EVALUATION AND SELECTION OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS FOR SURVEY OF «IVANA K» PLATFORM from January 2007 for the platform IVANA K before revamping describes the selection of required elements. As the basic design project documentation for the platform IVANA K «JACKET - STRUCTURAL IN SERVICE ANALYSIS» and «DECK - STRUCTURAL IN SERVICE ANALYSIS» has been used. Structural revamping and supplemental equipment to the IVANA K platform includes receiving trap, slug catchers, metering systems, new dehydration column, new fifth gas compressor skid, new air cooler and new water cooler skid. In accordance with these upgrades, new structural calculations of the platform IVANA K REVAMPING were implemented and issued an expert opinion on the stability of the platform. As the base for this elaboration, the above-mentioned FSB elaboration and project documents IVANA K REVAMPING PROJECT «STRUCTURAL IN SERVICE ANALYSIS & DINAMIC ANALYSIS» and STRUČNO MIŠLJENJE O STABILNOSTI PLATFORME were used. In this elaboration was performed the selection of structural elements according to the criteria of design level analysis as concluded at the meeting in Croatian Registry of Shipping (CRS) held on May 28, 2004 in Split. Elements of platforms that need to be surveyed are sorted in tables in the groups of higher risk with the properties of particular elements and joint global coordinates. Volume of elaboration is 28 pages, contents of five sections, 20 figures and 2 tables, and referring to 27 papers and documents. Postulates that need to be emphasized are underlined due to better orientation in text. Annex of elaboration consists of all groups of elements and their properties listed from the design project documentation for the platform IVANA K.
