Attachment Style in Parents of Children with Chronic Gastrointestinal Disease
Aim: thy hypothesis for our study was that parents of children with Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) will have more insecure attachment than parents of children with coeliac disease (CD) and parents of healthy children as well. Procedures: 46 parents of children with IBD, 42 parents of children with CD and 43 parents of healthy children, completed the validate modifications of Brennan's Experiences in Close Relationship Inventory. Results: secure attachment was found among 45, 7% parents of children with IBD ; among 35, 7% parents of children with CD and among 32, 6% parents of healthy children. The difference among the group were not significant. Conclusion: since there is no significant difference in the attachment style among parents of children with IBD, CD or those who have healthy children, we might say that the parental attachment style does not have an important role which specifically belongs to the context of pediatric chronic gastrointestinal disease.
