National Identity and Behavioural Patterns
The article provides first a brief account of cultural history of Croatia in the context of historical empires, and then the acount of the Croatian idiosyncrasies toward the West and the Balkans. Subsequently, the dominant cultural pattern is presented with regard to following dimensions: hierarchical distance, collectivism, femininity-masculinity, anxiety and information context. The author assumes that the Croatian pattern is ambiguous in the dimension of hierarcihical distance (egalitarian and authoritarian at the same time), and the dimension of femininity- masculinity (femininity in peace, masculinity in war), and in the other dimensions: mainly collectivistic, anxious and high context.
