Conditions for connecting Croatia with European inland waterways

On June 24, 1997, Croatia signed AGN agreement on major international inland waterways under new classification of waterways from 1992. Considering economic significance of inland navigation (the lowest costs) in combined traffic, Croatia should accelera te repair of inland waterway sections damaged during the war, and appurtenant ports and landing facilities. Simultaneously, the preparations and implementation of projects and works should be initiated to increase length of natural waterways on the Sava and Drava rivers and those related to construction of the multipurpose Danube-Sava canal pursuant to the requirements for V-b class of European inland waterways. This is a condition for integration of Croatia into the European network of inland waterways within the program for development of Central European traffic corridors.
