Recent advances in the pathogenesis of CMV infection
The lecture included two parts: in the first part the recent discoveries in immunobiology and immunology of CMV infection were presented with emphasis on the congenital viral infection of CNS. The second part of the talk was dedicated to CMV vaccines with emphasis on MCMV expressing NKG2D ligand as a novel approach for CMV vaccine and viral vaccine vector. The presented data demonstrated that the virus expressing NKG2D ligand was strongly attenuated in vivo, but nevertheless induces potent CD8 response which is similar to one induced by WT MCMV. Most of the presented results have recently been published in JCI (Slavuljica et al)
