An integral EDI model in Croatian seaports

Croatian seaports traditionally conduct the port business based on paper documents, partly because of the archaic approach and partly because of the inability to secure the necessary funding for the ICT systems for electronic data interchange. Regardless of the clear evidence in favor of electronic business, ICT implementation is still relatively weak, and the lack of educated human resources is evident. Author plans to research the theoretical background of the electronic data interchange in seaports, to analyze the current business processes and procedures (mainly the document flow) and to propose an integral model of electronic data and document/message interchange among the stakeholders in Croatian Port Communities.
