DIFFERENCES IN EFFECTIVENESS OF TEACHING OF SAILING TECHNIQUES USING DIFFERENT METHODIC PROCEDURES

The aim of this research was to determine effectiveness of different methodic procedures used in training and teaching of basic elements of sailing technique on mainsail position. Analyzed sailing technique elements were: luff up, tack, bear away and jibe. The research included 178 Kinesiology faculty students divided into two groups (control group and experimental group). The participants of experimental group were submitted to the more gradual principle while learning how to set up the sails. Teaching process was carried out during seven days period on Elan 19 sailboats. By means of descriptive statistics the difference in quantity of acquired knowledge was determined between two models of sailing technique teaching. The results show better score for experimental group participants in all the elements of sailing technique taught. Furthermore, one-way variance analysis was carried out with the aim of determining statistically significant difference between abovementioned groups. The results have proved existence of statistically significant difference between models applied, with the luff up element in favor of experimental group. Finally, it is possible to conclude that using gradual principle during the mastering of knowledge on mainsail setting had statistically significant influence on the amount of sailing skills acquired.
