Amyopathic dermatomyositis into dermatomyositis after 12 years: Case Report
A now 50-year-old woman presented to our department for the first time 13 years ago with butterfly erythema on the face. After a biopsy specimen was analyzed in which some elements of lupus erythematous were found, prednisolone ( 1mg/kg) and antimalarials were introduced. Two years later she came to our department with perioral erythema and erythema on her hands and on her arms and buttocks. All laboratory findings were within normal values. In 2001 she got pregnant and gave birth to a healthy child at the end of same year. Findings on her skin have been slowly worsening during last 8 years. Two years ago she presented to our department with muscle weakness, changes in EMNG and normal muscle enzymes. After indrtoducing 30 mg of prednisolone daily, her muscle symtoms disappeared within 1 month. Late transition from Amyopathic dermatomyositis to dermatomyositis after 11 years, as in the case described here is a rare form, and has not been well described in the literature.
