Sažetak
Aspects-based approach is new and eclectic way that can be used to characterise either individuals or career options in order to improve career decision making process. It takes in account different measures of career-related aspects to enhance the assessment of the person-environment fit (P-E fit). This paper focuses on relation among three different measures of occupational aspects: typical level of aspects, within-occupational aspects variance and core aspects. The 120 most frequent occupations in Croatia are characterised by 31 career-related aspects. Three independent experienced vocational psychologists have characterised all occupations in three different ways: they estimated the typical level of each aspect for each occupation ; they have identified the lowest and the highest level of each aspect within each occupation ; and they have chosen several aspects that are most representative (core) for each occupation. The results revealed that as the typical level of aspect becomes more extreme, the within-occupational aspect variance reduces (Mdn = - .43). Furthermore, the extremity of aspect and the importance of aspect (core level) are mainly not related (Mdn = .14). In addition, the within aspect variance and its essentiality for depicting an occupation (core aspects) are independent (Mdn = .05). It can be concluded that there is a need to differentiate between extremity of aspect, the within-aspect variance and core aspects for characterizing an occupation. These three measures are relatively independent and could be used together in CACG systems to enhance P-E fit.
