Value of Tei index in patients with first acute myocardial infarction terated by percutaneous coronary intervention
The aim of the study was to assess the clinical utility of the Tei index in patients with first acute myocardial infarction (AMI) treated by primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The second objective was to assess to validate this index against established measures of systolic and diastolic function. We studied 70 consecutive patients with first AMI who were admitted to the CCU of Dubrava University Hospital in the period of 8 months. The patients divided into PCI group (n=35) and Control group (n=35). No differences in mitral E and A filling velocities, E/A ratio, deceleration time (DT), ejection time and heart rate was observed between two groups. Compared with Control group, the Tei index was significantly lower in PCI group (P=0.019). The Tei index was significantly negative correlated to Smpson's LVEF for the both group (P<0.001). The Tei index is a useful hemodynamics method to assess global LV function in patients with acute myocardial infarction.
