Air quality of hotel and hospitality objects indoor air-conditioned areas
As more than 90% of our time is spent indoors, the even greater attention is paid to air quality of indoor areas, and, consequently, to hospitality objects and particularly to hotels. One of the main reasons for hotel and hospitality object air-conditioning is represented by guests’ sense of pleasantness. During hot, sultry days stay within air-conditioned areas is highly recommended for guests, particularly for older persons, chronic patients, and persons with high blood pressure. When spending longer time in air-conditioned closed areas, even in high-quality hotel and hospitality objects, tourists often detect health problems, mostly connected to bad area quality and micro-climate of indoor areas. The comprehension of air quality impact on quests’ health is considered a serious threat, and is often characterized as health disorder associated with indoor environment, with scientific research priorities aiming at health effect of internal environment factors as important contemporary public health problems. Regardless their category, hotels and hospitality objects cannot be excluded from this problem. The opinion of hotel management in selected tourist environments and selected hotel accommodation capacities is therefore analyzed in this paper, their primary goal being the consideration of air-conditioning problems in hotel, of air quality in indoor areas, of air-condition impact on health and pleasure of both employees and guests, and of illnesses and dangers that can originate as the result of poor quality of air-conditioning device maintenance and cleaning. Because of everything stated so far, air inhaled in hotel and hospitality object indoor spaces is considered an important health factor today and one of the most important health environmental risks. The authors conclude that quality tourism objects' air-conditioning, along with the proper care for their cleaning and maintenance, represent the necessity of every tourism object, which consequently must become the unavoidable standard condition for quality hotel objects.
