FIVE YEARS EXPERIENCE IN PRIMARY PCI
Primary PCI is the most effective reperfusion strategy in pts with STEMI especially in an institution with organised 24-hours service by experienced interventional team. Late arrival in such institution is still one of the most important reasons for non-performing of primary PCI in patients with STEMI causing higher complication and mortality rate. Mortality and complication rate of patients treated with primary PCI is significantly lower in comparison with those treated with conservative therapy, especially in cardiogenic shock. The challenge of the health care systems in the future should be not only to increase but also to proportionally allocate high-volume invasive centers in all parts of countries and to organize fast and safe transport of patients with STEMI in such centers.
