Antioxidant properties of phenolic compounds from Pinus heldreichii Christ.
The subject of this investigation was phenolic compounds isolated from Bosnian pine, a plant endemic to the Balkan Peninsula and Southern Italy. Since the plant is poorly investigated, the aim of this research was to determine their antioxidative activity, in order to evaluate significance of this plant. Results indicated that flavanoids were mostly present in the total phenols content. Total phenols had the strongest antioxidative activity. All types of compounds isolated from the total phenols extract: flavanoids, nonflavanoids and flavonols also showed significant antioxidant activity. Result of these investigations also indicate on a possible synergistic effect between phenolic compouns.
