Effects of Reinforcement Arrangement on Strength Capacity of Concrete Plates

Using numerical models previously developed by the authors, which can simulate many material and geometric nonlinear effects of concrete plates and shells, the effects of different reinforcement arrangement on strength capacity of some concrete plates were studied. Several numerical analysis of plates for different ratio between upper and bottom reinforcement were performed using equal total reinforcement. The plates were incrementally loaded by short-term loads, up to the failure. Limit loads, displacements and strains of upper and bottom reinforcement were determined for each reinforcement arrangement. Based on performed numerical testing, using previously developed and verified numerical models, the suggestions were given for the optimal design of the reinforcement for similar plates in practice.
