Next Generation Networks-Wireline Network Vision and Evolution
This paper deals with technology changes in wireline telecommunication networks and evolution toward New Telecom World, where Telecom, Mobility and Datacom meet. It gives an overview of network evolution from separated service networks toward new network architecture with one connectivity network able to support multiple services. A vision of the Next Generation Networks can be seen as a new type of robust, multi-service network infrastructure based on new packet switching technologies and designed for real-time services. The volume of data traffic is becoming greater than voice traffic. It will lead in the near future to that networks will be optimized for packet oriented traffic and efforts will be made to solve Quality of Service and performance issues. The networks will be able to handle multi-service traffic, ranging from simple file transfers to real-time broadband multi-media.
