Blessed John the French, the first Franciscan minister provincial in Hungary, and his miracles
The work examines the traces of the cult of the Franciscan friar John the French (13th c.), allegedly the first minister provincial of the Franciscan Province of Hungary. His existence is only known from the fourteenth-century catalogues of the order and especially from the printed compilation entitled Speculum vitae beati Francisci et Sociorum ejus (Venice, 1504), where several miracles are ascribed to him. The most peculiar of these miracles connects this locally venerated but never officially recognized and finally forgotten saint with Franciscan convents in Syrmia.
