Air-conditioning of the indoor skating rink
In this paper, overview of the heating and cooling load calculation, based on the example of the indoor skating rink in pavilion 40 of the Zagreb Fair, is presented. Influence of the ice surface on the inner roof surface of the building, for the purpose of protection from possible condensation of moisture on the roof as the result of the heat radiation between ice and roof surface, is analyzed. Relation between the thermodynamical state of the outside air and the occurrence of the condensate on the inner roof surface, based on the true meteorological data supplied by the State hydrometeorological institute, is shown in h,x diagram. The possibilities of the heat pump application for air-conditioning of the indoor skating rink, for the purpose of energy saving and environment protection, is also pointed out. The air distribution system, along with influence of the ice surface and skating rink fence on the proposed temperature and relative humidity of the inside air, is particularly taken into consideration, because of improvement in the protection of building construction elements against the condensation on their surfaces.
