RIJEKA AIRPORT REVITALISATION
The Rijeka Airport was opened in 1970. In the period up to the aggression on Croatia, it realised approximately a hundred thousand passengers yearly, maximally 120 thousand. The war was the reason that transport demand was drastically reduced because of tourist absence, lower economic activities and population poverty as well as a significant increase of air fares in domestic traffic. Rijeka is the second transportation hub in Croatia, and the main seaport. The demand for air transport is realised via airports in Trieste, Venice, Ljubljana and Zagreb. The paper analyses the potential transport demand in air transport and necessary conditions for revitalisation of the Rijeka Airport
