Supporting Pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder during teaching process
Aim: Our aim is to show importance of interdisciplinare collaboration of educational rehabilitator, sensory integration therapist and speech and language therapist in teaching pupils with autistic spectrum disorders. Method: Individualized educational plans, TEACCH and PECS methods, individualized Sensory integration programs and communication functional assessment and treatment were applied during three months period (school year 2009/2010) in the group of four pupils of both sexes, one girl, three boys. Participants were ten and twelve years old and were included into the day care treatment-school in the Centre for Autism, Zagreb. Results: Our paper includes results obtained on the assessment instruments in order to show and describe effects of the applied programs. Conclusion: Individualized, person-oriented planning and supporting during teaching process is key to educating autistic person for life in community.
