Sažetak
Caveolae of aortic endothelial plasma membranes contain neutral glycosphingolipid globotriaosylceramide, Gb3 or CD77. Excessive endothelial Gb3 accumulation is associated with increased thrombosis, atherogenesis and endothelial dysfunction. Signaling via CD77 could cause an increase of the intracellular Ca2+ concentration owing to an influx of extracellular Ca2+ through calcium channels. This study was undertaken to investigate the association between serum Ca2+ level and aortic CD77 expression in rats. Four weeks old rats have been fed with 0.75% CaCl2 solution during 2 weeks. CD77 expression on suspended aortic cells of hypercalcemic rats was determined by flow cytometry and compared to untreated rats (n=5). Hypercalcemia slightly decreased the proportion of CD77 positive cells.
