Using Graph Traversals for Matrix Creation in Object-Oriented Newton-Raphson Load Flow

The paper reports on object-oriented (OO) power system programming and applying sparse matrix storage and operations to power system network matrices. An OO model of the power system network is described as well as the OO Newton-Raphson load flow algorithm. Graph traversal algorithms are used for matrix creations. The numerical experiments were performed on four standard test networks widely used for power system studies. The obtained results are discussed and compared with respect to the actual time in which the calculation was carried out. Sparse matrix storage and sparse matrix algebra was used in the experiment.
