The compression strength of fir wood modified by citric acid
The group of Fir wood samples was impregnated by citric acid with sodium hypophosphite monohydrate (SHP)as a catalyst wihile the other one was impregnated by 1.3-dimethylol-4.5-dihydroxyethyleneurea (DMDHEU) with magnesium cloride (MgCl2)as a catalyst. After impregnation wood samples were cured at the temperature of 140 °C for 10 hours. In this article compression strength parallel to the grain of thermocon-densated and modified wood was compared to the strength of recent wood. The preliminary results indicate increse in compression strength of modified Fir wood.
