Lupus erythematosus tumidus. Report of three cases
ntroduction: Lupus erythematosus tumidus is distinct clinical entity in the group of cutaneous lupus erythematosus characterized by urticaria-like, reddish lesions most often on the upper trunk and the face. Methods: In histology rich amount of mucin and dermal lymphocytes are usually found. In differential diagnosis lymphadenosis cutis benigna, polymorphous light eruption and Jessner's lymphcytic infiltration should be excluded. Results: Therapeutical approach is similar to that of discoid lupus erythematosus, with special emphasis on photoprotection because of high photosensitivity of these patients. During last year three patients with lupus erythematosus tumidus referred to our Department. Their clinical as well as histological features will be reported. Conclusions: Analyzing records of our Department as well as of our Dermatohistological Lab, these are first patients with lupus tumidus after longer period, what is most likely result of “revival” of lupus tumidus in last decade.
