Herman Bollé and Croatian Pavilions at the Exhibitions in Trieste (1882) and Budapest (1885 and 1896)

The article is about Croatian pavilions for the 1882 Agricultural and Industrial Exhibitions in Trieste, the 1885 Hungarian National Exhibition and the 1896 Millennium Exhibition, both held in Budapest that presented some of the most interesting examples of the search for a specific national style in late 19th century Croatian architecture. All three buildings were designed by one of the most significant Zagreb based architects, Herman Bollé, who followed recommendations of the leading art historian, Iso Kršnjavi, in adopting elements of wooden rural architecture of East Slavonia and Srijem for designs of the pavilions.
