Sažetak
The increase of the dynamic capacity of the port container terminal landing place by the addition of a considerable number of dock side cranes whose tehnical properties permit greater performance, calls for corresponding technical and technological solutions of the problem arising on the stacking area. The greater part of modern container terminals have decided on portal carriers which, depending on the type, can perform any segment of the technological process on the stacking area, including the loading and unloading of containers from road and rail vehicles. Some of them, for example, the straddle carriers can take part also in the handling of containers within the terminal. The paper discusses and compares technical, technological and other characteristics of yard gantry cranes well as their influence on the optimization of the technological process on the stacking area of the port container terminal. By defining a number of the most significant parameters of yard gantry cranes relevant for the optimization of the stacking area process, models are at the same time given for technical and technological solutions of the stacking area depending on the role of the port terminal in serving the world container flows.
