Determination of chromium and nickel in high-alloy steel by thin-layerchromatography with anodic sampling
A new method has been developed for quantitative TLC (QTLC) analysis of Cr and Ni in stainless steel. The method consists of two steps-anodic sampling and then quantitative thin-layer chromatographic determination of Cr and Ni, Anodic sampling is based on anodic dissolution of the metal induced by a direct current in the presence of an electrolyte (10% v/V) aqueous hydrochloric acid). The Cr and Ni are determined by QTLC on microcrystalline cellulose with acetone-hydrochloric acid-water, 86:(:& (v/v) as mobile phase. The spots were visualized with H2O2 and dimethylglyoxime solution and measured spectrophotometrically by spectrophotometry. The values obtained by QTLC were compared with those obtained by glow discharge spectrometry and X-ray fluorescence.
