Objective acoustical parameters of different listening positions in churches
The measurements of acoustical parameters were carried out in several churches in Zagreb, Croatia. The selected churches differ in style, shape, volume and interior design. The idea was to evaluate the acoustic quality of different listening positions and suggest why are certain listening position better appreciated. Through the analysis of obtained data different groups of receiver locations in main listening area and lateral chapels were compared. Two source positions were used, one at the altar and the other at the organ. Objective parameters EDT, RT, C80, D50 and IACC were measured and evaluated as well as the different architectural parameters of the selected churched. The final results and the conclusions stated in this paper present a contribution to answering which positions and position groups are provided with better acoustic quality.
