Influence of infection with respiratory syncytial virus on CD23 antigen expression in mothers and infants
Infection with RSV increased the CD23 antigen expression and induced synthesis of RSV-specific IgE in infants with bronchiolitis. Mothers with RSV infection had higher expression of CD23 antigen then healthy adult females. These results indicated that influence of RSV-infection on the expression of CD23 antigen was not a consequence of immaturity of infant/s immune system, but rather a property of virus itself to induce a Th2-like immune reaction.
