Lock Management System - Emerging Technology For Waterborne ITS
Waterborne ITS represents a vital sub-system of transport system. Due to its dy-namic and stochastic feature previous research on functional architecture of ITS in ports and inland waterway transport (N. Jolic ; Doctoral Thesis) was focused on functional and behavioural process modelling. Conclusions regarding achieved per-formances are derived by analysis and they have generated the problem that was researched in this paper. The lock management system presented by functional architecture and state-transition relations (Klir’s General System Theory) aims to be implemented as emerging technology based on designed performance indicators resulted by multi-criteria analysis. Designed and implemented lock management system serves as an emerging technology for lock operators while planning, executing and recording the entire op-erational processes on the locks within their daily work for the purpose of reacting procedures defining in the emergence situation. Therefore, a system has to be im-plemented which ensures a usage of the system on each of the locks in a user-friendly way to keep the amount of data that must be entered manually by the lock operator at a minimum.
