The effect of lead and zinc concentration ratio in aqueous solutions on their removal on fixed bed of zeolite clinoptilolite
Natural zeolite containing clinoptilolite is capable of removing heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions by ion exchange. Industrial effluents usually contain more than one metal, therefore the investigation into their removal from multi component solutions is highly required (Mier et al., 2001). Our previous paper has examined the competitive removal of lead and zinc on the fixed bed of natural zeolite from a binary equimolar aqueous solution (Trgo et al., 2008). This paper examines the influence of the lead and zinc concentration ratio in aqueous solutions on their removal on the fixed bed of natural zeolite. Experimental breakthrough curves have been tested according to the Wolborska model (Wolborska and Pustelnik, 1996).
