Ultraviolet light in the treatment of atopic dermatitis
Oral photochmotherapy (PUVA) was used in ten, and combined UVB+UVA (UVAB) therapy in seven patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) exacerbation. Results of the study are presented by the method of total score. At the beginning of the treatment, total score (median) was 42.5 and 41 in the groups of patient on PUVA and UVAB therapy, respectively. At the end of treatment, total score was 30 in the PUVA group and 37 in the UVAB group. At the end of the 6-week follow-up period, a stisfactory effect was still observed in 76% and 38% of the patients treated with PUVA and UVAB side effects, however, it should only be reserved for severe forms of AD.
