Logistic process evaluation by measuring performance indicator

Logistic process planning and managing is a complex and demanding issue. All activities should be based on updated and reliable quality data. In current business conditions, to know functioning of one activity and/or logistic process is not sufficient for supervision and optimization of a logistic system. The trend of quality system implementation in logistic operator companies and other involved parties on one hand has many advantages, and on the other generates certain gaps within an organization. In a quality system requirement, defining and measuring of performance indicators is emphasized and is a separate part of quality referent standard ISO 9000:2008. The methodology of defining business processes in logistic operators is not clear, and as such does not enable companies to recognize their competitiveness and results in optimization of only one activity and not of overall business. This paper gives the guidelines for harmonization of logistic processes according to the international practice, and how to integrate local logistic process performance indicators into company global, or key performance indicators
